Prepare a document review index for a lawyer
Organize supplied documents into a source-linked review index with dates, parties, missing items, and questions for counsel.
Use this workflow to prepare material for a qualified reviewer. It organizes documents and questions; it does not decide legal rights, compute legal deadlines, or replace counsel's judgment.
Prepare the input
Start with anonymized or shareable sample documents. Label each file and version. Ask the responsible professional which fields matter and which information should not be shared. Do not combine unrelated matters into one pack.
Run the workflow
Request an index containing document reference, stated date, named parties, apparent document type, and missing information. Preserve uncertainty where a scan is unclear. Link each extracted field to its source page or section.
Prompt to copy
Prepare a review index from these documents: [material].
Fields: reference, stated date, parties, document type,
source page, missing item, and question for the reviewer.
Do not infer legal effect, deadlines, or enforceability.
Mark unreadable or unstated fields explicitly.
Do not search for case law or contact anyone.
Review a worked example
Illustrative pack: a signed agreement, an unsigned amendment, and an email mentioning another attachment. The index should preserve signature status as observed and flag the missing attachment. It should not declare the amendment valid or invalid. Check references, dates, and whether every question has a source.
Check whether the assistant has merged documents with similar names. An unsigned draft and a signed copy should remain distinct sources. Preserve observed labels without assuming that they settle legal status. If a page is missing or unreadable, record the gap and ask the reviewer how to proceed before preparing a substantive summary.
Use it again
Have the lawyer review the index before it guides further work. Keep matter boundaries and source versions intact. See Bot for personal preparation or discuss a law-office integration without sending client secrets in the initial inquiry.
